Fraxinus americana, common names white ash or American ash, is a species of ash tree native to eastern and central North America. American white ash is a fast growing large deciduous tree and has an attractive shape which is useful for shade cover. Leaf colour is dark green above and lighter below, turning yellow with an overlay of purple in Autumn. The tree is oval shaped when young, becoming more rounded with age, with upright spreading branches.
