Liquidambar styraciflua 'Rotundiloba'

Liquidamber

Liquidambar styraciflua 'Rotundiloba', common name fruitless Sweetgum, is a cultivar introduced in 1997. Unlike its parent, it doesn't produce or rarely produces fruits. The leaves have the same 5 lobes but the tips are rounded rather than pointed. This is a large growing deciduous tree.  At first, it grows in a narrowly pyramidal habit then develops an oval shape with age. The leaves are lustrous dark green. The lobes of these leaves are more rounded than on other varieties. They turn yellow to burgundy reds in autumn for extended periods.
